Question: Can someone please help me... i have so many health issues, and i'm worried about cancer?
(Posted by: indigo♥ on 2010-07-29 04:02:26)
Hi, I'm 19, and I'm very worried about a few things. Every month or so it seems I discover a new things wrong with me... I once found a lump in the back of my neck which has been scanned and confirmed as a benign lipoma, which I am fine with. Then I found another lump in my left shoulder/ trapizus area, more like a bulge... Which isn't painful.. It just feels weird and I get a sensation in it like its very weak.. my doctor said this is a "muscle knot " but its been there for weeks... Now yesterday I had a very very painful right armpit, and today I discovered a small lump. I also have a swollen lymph node on my neck, without any signs of a cold/ virus. my period is also 3 weeks late... I never get cramps, just random spotting.. I have so much wrong with me right now... I just feel like I'm dying. I'm going to the doctors tomorrow, shes really fed up with me and usually gets me out of there as soon as possible saying "oh just take some ibrofen " - _- |

Cancer is almost never painful . . so a sore armpit would indicate an infection, not cancer. If you have an infection anywhere in your body than your lymph nodes will swell up normally . .that's what lymph nodes do . . filter out infection and bacteria and debris, so they swell. Your problem is that you have too many 'symptoms' . . so everything is vague and probably not even connected to each other. When you go to your doctor the only thing you need to really mention for them to look at is the lump or bulge in your left shoulder. Don't even mention anything else. Out of everything you have said that is the only thing that raises a few questions . . nothing else is connected. But any unexplained painless lump or bump, over 2cm that seems to be growing should be examined by a doctor. You should also be very careful about always being overalarmed at everything . . because eventually your doctor will tune you out . . and so will everyone else . . and than something really serious will turn up and NO ONE will believe you. It's already starting to happen with your doctor . . . if you complain about everything than eventually they will stop listening . . so filter everything out and focus on the most serious issue . . let everything else slide. Don't be tagged as the 'girl who cried wolf' about every single twinge and bump you get . . if you want to be taken seriously. |

Go to another doctor, and tell him/ her your story, and don't worry, you will not die... I thought I will die from a 102.2F fever yesterday, and here I am answering your question :D Human body is stronger than you expect, even stronger than 105F fever xD! and some lumps. |

Get a second opinion or even a third if you don't feel like the doctor's are taking you seriously. Your symptoms could be caused by a number of things. Minor things like a virus but it could also be caused by something more serious like cancer. At 19 it's most likely nothing serious but you should get it thoroughly checked out. Sometimes doctors will brush off patients that come in with minor symptoms if the patient is young and healthy otherwise. But you have to be your own advocate and get things checked out if you feel that something is wrong. |
