Question: How much better does one feel after eating healthy foods for a month instead of "junk food" types of food?
(Posted by: ! on 2010-07-21 00:16:59)
And do most agree that even the "Healthy " meals eaten by many westerners is really chemical laden , empty calorie, high fat foods? why people dont seem to care and how the feelings , thinking processes are different between the healthy food eater (Vegetarian being the healthiest type of eater) and the people who eat hamburgers, fries , and pizza every day? why many dont seem to care? please explain btw, which country you are in ? (if dont mind sharing) and how common there which type and for how long? thanks for your answers! |

I think most people would be surprised at how much better they would feel... but since most have been raised on frozen, pre-packaged foods, trans-fats, fast food & refined foods, I don't think they realize the extent of the difference. And I agree with you that many processed "health foods " are still just processed foods. I don't think eating meat is unhealthy... I think the types of meat people eat, the way it's prepared, and the ridiculous quantity they eat is what makes it unhealthy. People can be vegetarians and eat unhealthy-- I've know vegetarians that eat way to many refined carbs, sugar, transfats, or eat frozen processed vegetarian meals. Just because someone doesn't eat meat doesn't mean they are eating right. USA |

Well, I am from the USA and for the most part we are unhealthy eaters. I am not saying everyone from here is, but the majority are. I am currently trying to adapt a healthy lifestyle as I have just joined the local gym and I have to say that eating healthier has made me feel sooo much better. I have not had any headaches or heartburn which was a major problem with me. I would agree that a lot of food that is being called "healthy " that you buy at the market are full of chemicals so I try to go with fresh foods that way I know that there is not a lot of chemicals and preservatives in them. |

I find it quite insulting that you think 'many westerners' eat foods full of chemicals. Yes, there are a lot of ready meals out there which are full of chemicals, however there are a lot of people who make sensible choices eat fresh fruit / vegetables and meat on a daily basis. Also, being vegetarian does not necessarily mean eating healthier. To me, it seems to mean limiting your diet and not getting all your nutrients makes you worse off. I know various vegetarians and they are not all healthy. I am in the UK and the worst choices available to us are the take aways which are full of food dyes and fatty oils. |

U.S.- actually eating healthy does make you feel better and less guilty. You need calories to function properly, so it really doesnt matter what you eat, just dont eat too much of the same thing or too often because you can easily go over your calorie intake and begin to gain weight. Where i am from everyone is pretty much vegan but it doesnt mean they are the healthiest, in fact they have to find other ways of getting certain supplements you would normally get from meat. But if you are a meat eater stay away from fatty meats and eat more lean meats. Make sure to get a little bit of everything from the food pyramid, as cliche as it sounds it totally helps. Also dont completely rid yourself of the delicious things in life because you are more likely to give up your diet and go back to your fatty ways. Really all there is to eating healthy is calorie intake. The thinking processes between Vegans and Meat eaters are completely different, some vegans dont eat meat because its against their morals, while others only think about their diet. Meat eaters thinking process is that they want to get full, they want to rid themselves of that hungry feeling. There is nothing wrong with either life style. Why some people dont seem to care as to how not eating healthy is completely up to them, some desire to be healthy and sometimes being fit doesnt always come with their type of diet. Its completely physiological sort of how anorexia/ bulimia works. People begin to see themselves as fat and to rid themselves of this thought they figure why not stop eating all together or binge eat now get rid of it later. Its all in the brain, for people who dont care maybe they do but they dont want to show how they dont have control, how they are weak enough to not be able to resist food. Anyway i hoped this helped! |
