It used to be called "retardology " (from the French for "retarded ") but this was found to be too offensive in the UK/ US.

Because on reflex, it doesn't make any sense. Some say it's so called because it's that instinctive action that makes alties go for their wallet when confronted with nonsense such as this.

Reflexology is an ancient form of alternative therapy. It is believed that there are thousands of reflexes on the foot/ hand/ ear that corresponds to different organs of the body, and it is believed that by putting pressure of these reflexes, that it will help the corresponding organ.
