The fact that it does not work! It is a quack treatment based on a homuncular notion of the human body that was disproved centuries ago! It talks of energies and channels that can not be demonstrated to exist. It is therefore, 'magic' not medicine!

I can't imagine anyone other than someone who makes money from reflexology suggesting that there are any advantages. Controlled studies show it to be no better than placebo.

It does nothing. It lightens your wallet. It can lead to you delaying getting REAL treatment for serious conditions.

Spending money for no reason seems like a disadvantage

It's based on an ancient and now disproved belief. Talk about 'meridians' and 'channels' in the body are completely fictitious and have been throughly debunked by modern science. It works (if at all) purely by placebo. While this can be great for people who are feeling a bit 'off', unsettled or have a general feeling of unease, it does not work for real medical conditions. It can give people a false sense of hope when they are genuinely ill and looking for a cure. Unscrupulous practitioners can lie and abuse their position of trust. With little or no regulation, reflexologists can do what they want. While it is a nice foot massage, it is just that. Any other claims about it is a lie. It's not used by doctors or in hospitals because it does not work.

The sceptics that answered that there is no research evidenced based reflexology research are simply stating an opinion not based on facts. They would like you to believe their intuitive findings. You just need to go to Medline to search and there is plenty of evidence. As far as disadvantages people like these sceptics will make fun of you because it makes their day. They live for ridicule. It makes them feel superior. But if you can ignore them because their opinion really doesn't matter you are fine.
